The Case of the Big Bad Wolf
by Israel M., 13

This hilarious hard-boiled twist on the classic fairy tale, The Three Little Pigs, was the result of our 2009 Young Writers Summer Camp. While all our campers' twisted tales were excellent, this one stands out--a story that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike.

An Interview with Edward Bloor
by Fitzroya N, Sam H, Alexyz H (grades 6-8)

The long-form interview is a lost art. But when bestselling YA author Edward Bloor sat down with our online newspaper staff at The Howard Hype, the questions came pouring out. The interview had to be broken into two parts and there was still material that was cut. We worked with the students to organize the questions in a logical order and what you'll read is a fairly long, thorough, and entertaining interview that, when you think about who conducted it, is one heck of an accomplishment for these middle schoolers.

The Itchy Frog
by Solomon S, age 7

During the 2009/2010 school year, Page 15 worked with Nap Ford Community School's gifted and talented class on a literary magazine project. This poem was part of an activity in our poetry unit. Students had to pick an animal from one hat and an adjective from another, and write a poem based on their choices. The game yielded some funny results and some great poetry.

The Sassy Mouse
by Shana-kae S, age 8

Another poem from the animal-adjective activity at Nap Ford.

The Bossy Raccoon Learns To Be Nice
by Hailee (age 8) Myzell (age 7) and Sherwin (age 8)

This fable, written by the gifted and talented class at Nap Ford, was an offshoot of the animal-adjective activity. After reading a bunch of fables, students broke into groups, chose their favorite animals from the previous activity, and inserted them into a fable. Each group chose a moral for their story using our favorite method: out of a hat. This one was our favorite.

You're So Fat
by Ivanna M, age 13

You're So Fat is a featured column by one of Howard Hype's best writers. Each week Ivanna tackles new aspects of body image and perception, from portrayals of beauty in the media to eating disorders. The sources in the original article are hyperlinked, and so are not included in this version.

Dear Mr. President
by Chanté F, age 9

This was written by a Nap Ford student for a Page 15 literary magazine project. The assignment was a to write a letter to Mr. or Mrs. Adult about why it's tough to be a kid, and to clarify some things that adults don't understand about the younger generation. Chanté took it one step further and decided to write to the president of adults, so to speak: the actual president.
