Page 15 is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to offer their time to assist with our tutoring and writing programs, as well as with other aspects of the organization ranging from graphic design work to accounting. And getting started with us is EASY. If you are interested in getting involved, please email our volunteer coordinator at ryan@page15.org or click HERE to download a volunteer form.
INTERNSHIPS
We are looking for Fall '11 and Spring '12 interns for:
The Howard Hype (Program Instructor / Editor-in-chief) Download more info.
The Homework Room (Program Assistant) Download more info.
Here's what one of our summer interns had to say about her experience: I feel privileged to have been welcomed into Page 15 and given the chance to see what happens inside your organization. Seeing your passion and willingness to work (and work hard) for a cause you believe in has inspired me to not settle for a more conventional 9-5 job I don’t feel makes a difference. My words fail me but I am so genuinely thankful that you stuck with me for these past couple of months. ~Lisa Lee, Pg. 15 summer intern, generally awesome human being
How do I become a Page 15 volunteer?
If you like what we do and want to help, fill out our volunteer form and send it in. Once you have registered with us you will be contacted by our Volunteer Coordinator, who will provide you with more information on our programs and explain how to sign up for hours.
What is the time commitment?
Whatever time you have to give!
Any requirements to volunteer at Page 15?
Our top priority at Page 15 is to provide our students and their families with a safe and positive experience. To earn and maintain their trust we adhere to a strict safety policy and require that all of our volunteers, coordinators, and directors pass a background check. Volunteers must also be 18 years or older.
What kind of help does Page 15 need?
We always need volunteers to help with our programs and events. During the school year, our largest need is for tutors to work with our students in the Homework Room. We also need creative people to help run our writing programs and summer camps. If you have ideas for your own creative writing projects, we would love to help you make them happen. We also love designers and programmers to help with print and web stuff.
Do you take book donations?
Yes! Please send (or drop off) any new or gently used children's / young adult / teen books to our sister program, Urban ReThink, 625 E. Central Blvd., Orlando, FL 32801.
Name: Vivianne Peckham
Aliases: no aliases
Occupation: graduate student, artist (I design patterns)
Hometown: Tucson, Arizona -- lots of sand, snakes and spiders!
Favorite Moment at Page 15: When the students start showing up every afternoon. :)
Interests Outside of Page 15: exploring Florida on road trips, taking pictures with my new camera
Favorite thing about living in Orlando: my neighborhood lake: there's so much animal activity going on around and in it!
Favorite Book: Miss Twiggley's Tree, by Dorothea Warren Fox
Two truths and one lie: Adventure is a form of happiness. A hippopotamus can open its mouth 150 degrees; that's a VERY obtuse angle! Chocolate is bad for you.
Regarding the woodchuck: Like lions, most animals are lazy if they can get away with it. So, no wood chucking.
