Page 15 is a nonprofit literacy arts program committed to providing supplemental reading and writing education for all students living and attending public school in Orlando, Florida. Our FREE after-school tutoring and creative writing workshops are dedicated to enhancing communication skills, encouraging personal creativity, and inspiring a lifelong passion for the language arts.

Fall & Winter 2008 Workshop CALENDAR


Letter to the President
Saturday, Oct. 25th

Learn the power of prose and the power of democracy by writing a letter directly to the future president. Discuss the current issues framed by the candidates and the mainstream media before branching off into issues that concern you personally and exploring the ways one individual can make an impact on the nation. At the end of the workshop, each student will receive a bound anthology of all the letters. We’ll also send it to the candidates!

Saturday, Nov. 15th

Verse, chorus, verse. Learn what it takes to be a singer songwriter. No experience necessary. We’ll provide the music. Work in a fun, easy-going environment, compose lyrics and work with local musicians to record your very own song to take home and show your friends.

This Song Sucks!
Saturday, Dec. 6th

Tons of songs come out every year. Some are cool, some suck. The challenge is explaining why. Can you tell the difference between real and electronic drums? How much to you know about hip-hop? Learn how to write a music review for radio. Record your review and you may even hear it played over the airwaves on a local FM radio station!

Don't Buy It, Make It! - Holiday Journals
Saturday, Dec. 20th

No need for those expensive, mass-produced journals for sale at bookstores. Learn how to use common household materials to make your own journal. Work with local artists to design the cover. Keep it for personal expression or give it away as a gift. Just in time for the holidays! (Holiday Journals Workshop requires additional $10 supplies fee)

REGISTRATION

Unless otherwise stated, all Page 15 workshops are FREE OF CHARGE for students. However, because of the popularity of our workshops we require a refundable $20 deposit to confirm your space. This refundable deposit will be returned to you on the first day of the workshop or may be used as a donation to Page 15 to continue offering free tutoring and writing programs.

Okay, Okay...so how do I register? Call (786) 547-0430 or email info@page15.org with the student’s name, age, school, email & phone. Spaces are first come, first serve...so confirm your place ASAP! Make checks out to Urban Think Foundation and mail to 1316 Francis Ave., Orlando, FL 32806. Refundable deposits must be received by the space deadline, at least 1 week in advance of the workshop. Don’t risk losing your place!
